Fond Farewell to Two Staffers

This month ELAP is bidding farewell to two fantastic staff members, and we are also celebrating a promotion.

Esperanza Borboa (Espy) is leaving ELAP to reset and focus on the next chapter of her life as an advocate for civil and human rights. As ELAP’s Program Director for eight years, Espy has overseen many aspects of our work and has truly been the face of ELAP for many of our community members and supporters over the years. Espy has also represented ELAP on several local and statewide coalitions striving to achieve access to justice for people throughout our region. Through a career that spans more than 40 years, she has been a true champion for people with the least access to justice. You will continue to see her engaged in communities across our state as she “resets” her pace to keep going for the long haul. Espy’s last day in our office will be Thursday, June 30.

We are excited to announce Danielle Caldwell,ELAP’s Community Engagement Manager, will step into the role of Program Director.Danielle has done a fantastic job serving as a liaison to our community partners and managing our community education programs. We look forward to her serving in this new role.

Dorothy Leggett, our amazing Medical-Legal Partnership staff attorney, is leaving ELAP later this month to move out of state. We are sad to see her go, but want to thank her for the incredible work she’s done with ELAP—especially the way she has served patients through our Medical-Legal Partnership these past several years. She single-handedly provided legal help to 114 people last year through these clinic partnerships, which is truly remarkable! Dorothy’s last day will be Friday, June 17.
