Meet an ELAP volunteer

No two weeks look the same for Kerry, a longtime ELAP office volunteer. One day she’s helping staff prepare for a grant application; the next, she’s reorganizing the supply closet or conducting reference checks.

She’s tackled everything from office-move logistics to driving around to drop off flyers at partner organizations — and she’s always ready to jump in wherever she’s needed.

Kerry came to us in 2022 when she was looking for a way to combine her background in recruiting and law with her interest in giving back through nonprofit work. Few volunteers do as much as she does. Every week, she gives her time to keep ELAP staff supported, whatever the task of the day happens to be.

“I’ve always been inspired by the people who get involved in nonprofits and make that their career. My time with ELAP has just solidified my respect for people who choose that.”

Kerry gives kudos to the ELAP team, especially our Chief of Staff, Ngoc, for always sharing how Kerry’s work positively impacts the organization. “I’m grateful they’re able to incorporate me into the space so I can make an impact, however small. And they always make sure to let me know what that impact is,” she says.

In her spare time, Kerry loves to run, travel with her husband, and visit her daughters who are based on the East Coast.

“I feel very fortunate that I found ELAP. It’s been such a wonderful fit for me, and I’m grateful for it.”
