Lost your immigration attorney? Here’s what to do next.

Many people have been affected by the closure of a large immigration law practice.

If you have lost your immigration attorney, Northwest Immigrant Rights Project has outlined key steps to take next:

  1. Ask for a copy of your complete case file.
  2. Keep important info and documents, including proof of payment.
  3. Track your case status at: egov.uscis.gov (if you have a pending application or petition) or acis.eoir.justice.gov (if you have a case before the court or board of appeals)
  4. Seek a second opinion or a new attorney right away. (Make sure the person is a licensed attorney or an accredited representative of the Department of Justice.)

Find a qualified immigration attorney: ailalawyer.com.
