Through our Housing Stability Program, ELAP works with renters who are facing eviction, unsafe living conditions, or landlord neglect. For many families, legal support can make the difference between staying safely housed or facing eviction and homelessness.
Many renters report visible mold, musty odors, leaks, poor ventilation, and moisture problems that can affect their health and well-being. But even when tenants report the problem, repairs are not always made.
One of the biggest barriers is proof.
This funding will provide professional mold inspections for tenants who need help. These inspections create detailed, third-party reports that document mold and identify the underlying problems causing it, such as leaks, moisture, or poor ventilation.
That documentation gives tenants and ELAP the evidence needed to advocate for repairs, negotiate with landlords, support legal claims when needed, and help ensure homes meet basic health and safety standards.
