Serving Survivors of Domestic Violence

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, but at ELAP we work with survivors every single day, year-round.

Staff attorneys in ELAP’s Domestic Violence Prevention work with hundreds of survivors in King County every year to provide critical legal advice, secure protection orders, help parents navigate divorce, and do safety planning. ELAP’s staff Legal Navigator in our Project Safety Program works out of the King County Courthouse to help recent victims of violence navigate the confusing court system. One-third of the people we serve annually seek our help because of domestic violence.

The Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence provides many helpful resources to take action this month:

  • Free upcoming virtual talks to learn more about the issue
  • Social media toolkit to help you spread the word
  • Tips on how to foster healthy relationships
  • Resources for survivors

By raising awareness, together we can advocate for resources to prevent violence and support survivors.
